Description
For some time now Fizik have been directing riders to the correct saddle shape using their Spine Concept. The Spine Concept realizes that cyclists have varying degrees of flexibility and that human flexibility affects riding behaviour when cycling in a high performance position. The Antares shape is best suited to riders with a mid-flex spine or who tend to vary their position while riding; changing from tops, to hoods to drops.
The introduction of the Versus or VS range proved extremely popular with many riders who suffered numbness despite having relieved much of the support discomfort that the correct shape of saddle brings. As an evolution of the concept, Fizik have released the Versus X or VSX range.
The Versus X collection is meant for those riders that require a model of saddle with a relief zone and who have perhaps tried the standard VS models but who still suffer discomfort. The range includes a complete range of saddles that combines the Spine Concept, fi’zi:k technology and new consumers’ needs.
Simply put the VSX range of saddles have a larger and deeper channel than the VS. The 20mm deep channel design allows greater pressure relief to those suffering from numbness in the genitals whilst maintaining the stiffness and durability of a solid base saddle. In addition the use of a channel rather than a full cut-out means that there is increased surface area in contact with the rider, lending better support and reducing shaper edges which can cause additional issues.
The Antares VS-X Kium uses Fizik’s alloy rail to more affordably keep the weight down.
